Here are some answers to our most commonly asked questions. If you have a question that isn't answered here please contact us and we will get back to you as quickly as possible.

What is a bentwood ring?

A bentwood ring is a ring made by rolling up thin wood, or wood veneer, whilst slowly and meticulously bonding the layers. They are typically stronger than their solid wood counterparts in the same way  that plywood tends to be stronger than timber of the same dimensions.

Do you use sustainable materials?

Yes. We take sustainability very seriously and do our very best to source FSC (or equivalent) certified wood and inlay materials. Our primary suppler of veneer is The Wood Veneer Hub and through them are able to trace each piece of veneer back to its source right down to the individual tree and its geographical location.
We also use only recycled metals, synthetic Opal and, to the best of our knowledge, sustainably and ethically sourced gemstones and minerals.
Some of our materials are sourced locally from arborists and even, in the case of copper, from electricians!

Are your rings waterproof?

Short exposure to water is usually absolutely fine however extended submersion and particularly exposure to chemicals or sea water is not advised. Although we use waterproof finishings we cannot guarantee that your ring will never be damaged by water. For example if a finishing were to be chipped or if the natural beeswax and oil finish were to be allowed to dry then exposure to water could damage the ring. There is information on ring care below.

How do I care for my ring?

It is important to recognise the limitations of bentwood rings in comparrison to metal rings. We advise that they are not worn whilst doing any hard work such as mechanics or bricklaying etc.
The hardwearing CA or Resin finish on some of our rings may simply need a light buff with a microfibre cloth from time to time. Rings with a natural beeswax and oil finish may show signs of becoming dry. The simple way to remedy this is to apply a small amount of any edible oil with a cloth, ensuring any excess is wiped off. We recommend Walnut oil or Olive Oil. It is worth noting that our skin produces its own oil which is actually very good at treating you ring. Particularly the inside face.

What is the delivery time on my order?

Between 7 and 14 days. We make all of our rings to order as it simply isn't possible to have every ring in every size, and duplicates of them, in stock. As you can see in the pictures we have at least one of almost every ring available straight away and this will be noted in the product description.

How do I choose the correct ring size?

The simplest way to do this is to use a ring sizing set that can be purchased cheaply online. Alternatively most jewellers are happy to measure your ring size for free.
